The Jungle Book Takes the Stage!

April 21, 22 and 23
Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

Mowgli and all his jungle friends will be singing and dancing across the stage when Disney’s family classic The Jungle Book is performed by the students of the Children’s Theater production class on one weekend only,
April 21, 22 and 23.

The tale begins deep in the heart of the jungle when a baby boy is lost and abandoned. Little Mowgli is raised by wolves until Shere Kahn, the tiger, decides that Mowgli is no longer welcome. As Bagheera, the panther, guides the jungle boy to the man village, the two run into numerous troubles including the sinister Kaa the snake and an elephant stampede! When a group of shifty-looking monkeys tiptoe in and kidnap Mowgli, his friends Bagheera and Baloo the bear must come to his rescue.
This musical production is filled with all the jazzy songs that children will know and love from the classic Disney movie including "The Bare Necessities" and "I Wanna Be Like You."

Tickets can be purchased by calling the Arts Center at (440) 964-3396. Ticket prices are $12 patrons, $9 adults, $8 seniors and $7 students and children.

Don't miss this favorite annual production!

Director's Desk March/April 2006

I would like to take this opportunity to cordially invite you to become a member of the Ashtabula Arts Center. Traditionally, each March and April we kick off our annual Membership/Fund Drive for our upcoming fiscal year that begins July 1st.

We have been very fortunate over the years that approximately 600-700 individuals, families and businesses have contributed our operating drive. The funding from these donors makes up about 20% of our annual budget. The 80% balance of our $600,000 budget is derived from earned income, grants and gifts. Obviously 20% is a large but very necessary amount to reach. We invite you to become a part of keeping the Arts Center strong and flourishing.

This past fund drive we found ourselves 5% short of our goal. Our volunteers worked very hard to achieve our goal, but it just didn't happen. This has necessitated some hard decisions about programming, scholarships, marketing purchased, etc.

Over the next couple of months you will be receiving a letter and pledge envelope for this purpose. We ask you to please consider giving. If everyone who receives an envelope would pledge at his or her individual level or at the family level, we would reach our goal.

I invite you to call me if you want more information. Stop by and take in an exhibit or call and I'll gladly give you a tour and talk with you more - phone: 964-3396. I hope you will seriously consider our invitation to become even more a part of the Ashtabula Arts Center. Thank you very much.
